Neighborhood
The Isle of Portland is located on the southernmost tip of Weymouth, attached to the mainland by the picturesque Chesil Beach and causeway.

Although only a small area, the Isle of Portland has many attractions for visitors and locals alike. One of the highly recommended attractions is the Portland Bill Lighthouse. Located in a naturally beautiful area, the working lighthouse is accessible for visitors – enabling them to climb to the very top and enjoy the view of `Portland Race` and further across the English Channel. After a trip up the lighthouse, you can stop off at the visitor centre which you will find once back on ground level.

As you can imagine, the scenery on the Isle of Portland is second to none, and the opportunity to explore multiple walking trails and nature sights is vast. For keen hikers or anyone wishing to explore the island, there is a walk called `The Isle of Portland Circuit`. This 13 mile walk follows the South West Coastal Path all the way around the island, following the dramatic, rugged cliffs and hidden coves.

For sea enthusiasts, why not try your hand at sailing! Portland hosted the Sailing Events in the Olympic Games back in 2012. Due to the sheltered location, Portland and Weymouth have been said to have some of the best sailing waters in the world - making it an ideal place to learn or continue should you already know the sport.
