Very modern

Painters Rest, a deceptively beautiful property, appears from the outside to be a simple, old terraced house in Carlin How. Yet, step inside and you'll discover a delightful, exceptionally clean space with a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, and comfortable, light-filled bedrooms.

We used Painters Rest as a home base to explore the nearby North East coast over 3 days. Its convenient location allowed us to easily travel to three different beaches as well as visit historical and nature sites within a 30-45 minute drive. While we didn't spend much time in Carlin How itself, the property provided a perfect, well-rested respite after our daily adventures. The comfortable beds ensured we slept soundly each night, and the lovely weather was an added bonus that enhanced our stay.

Nothing much to complain about really - a few very minor wear and tear things but it did not detract us from enjoying the space and facilities here!

de communicatie via mail verliep niet vlot (veel misverstanden). Contact met het bureau in Carin How daarentegen was goed.
Mooi huisje, perfect als uitvalsbasis om de regio te bezoeken.
Geen noemenswaardige problemen met de buurt.

The house itself was clean and tidy, the area was rough and dangerous. Every night, we have people shouting, arguing, fighting, drinking on the streets, cars racing up and down the street and other anti-social behavior. In the 8 weeks we stayed at this property, we didn’t get 1 single good night’s sleep. Kids were out at all hours and then the parents were out shouting at the kids in the mornings. We were accused of being undercover police by one local yob, then the next day, our car had a large deep scratch around 500mm in one of the doors. Each time we pulled up outside the house, the same yob would immediately come to his door and stare at us in an attempt to intimidate us. Every night there were people drinking on the streets (Vodka directly out of the bottle). One night the local yob beat someone up outside the house, leaving him unconscious. When he came around, he tried to get in to the house we was staying in, shouting at us telling us to get out of his house.

We had an absolutely amazing time. The house was like a 5* hotel. Beautiful furniture and decor, pristine and clean, airy and spacious.
Also lots of great places to go in the area.

Lovely house. Really really nice. Some people on the street had issues with us parking our work vans in front of their houses.

We were a family of 5 (parents plus 3 university age kids). I grew up in Brotton and had read other reviews. I am well aware that this whole area has been hit hard since the closure of the steel works and it cannot be ignored that the local economy is struggling. I had considered an AirBnB in Saltburn, the jewel in the crown along the local coast, but in terms of value for money the Painters Rest provided a really good affordable choice, if you have a car. It is superbly fitted out, and was a pleasure to return to every evening after a hectic family Xmas up the road. It had a great shower and comfy sofa area with large TV. Carlin' How has limited local amenities but this AirBnB in a residential street was one of the nicest we've ever stayed in, in terms of cleanliness, interior design, comfort, and style. There were a couple of issues we noted and will report to owners.

I like that the apartment have new and nice equipment, a nice renovation.
Kitchen is very nice and usefull.
Three bedrooms for very good price.
It is very close to local industrial site - great for contractors.

Not located in a nice neighborhood.
The backyard would welcome a little bench.
