Neighborhood
Margate is an exciting seaside resort on England’s South East coast. Situated on the Isle of Thanet overlooking the North Sea, Margate boasts beautiful sandy beaches and a long pier for leisurely walks and fishing. In recent years, it has become a cultural hub with the opening of the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery and the iconic Dreamland amusement park.

The town also hosts various cultural events and festivals throughout the year, such as Margate Soul Festival, the UK’s biggest soul music festival, attracting both locals and tourists.

Margate’s Old Town offers charming streets filled with boutiques, galleries, and cafes, making it a popular destination for art, shopping, and dining.

Make sure you visit the unique Shell Grotto when visiting Margate! Enter this subterranean passageway that is studded with an incredible 4.6 million shells, creating a magical mosaic of interesting patterns and symbols. Still to this day, no one knows how, why or where this hidden treasure has come from…

If you're looking for something a little different, pop down to the largest tidal pool in the UK. Walpole Bay Tidal Pool is a Grade II-listed structure perfect for swimming on a beautiful sunny day or on a frosty morning for a refreshing quick dip. Close by you can also find mini golf, tennis court, cafe and indoor bowls for some additional fun.

Getting Around
Margate rail station is a 10-minute drive or 45-minute walk from Dane Hill with regular routes to London, Canterbury and Ashford.

Had a very enjoyable stay here. The house is only a short walk to the old town and the promenade and beach which was perfect for our needs. it was exactly as specified in the information provided and had the added benefit of an Aldi supermarket within 50 metres of the front door as well as a lovely brunch restaurant and a great bakery within a couple of minutes walk.
We can happily recommend this let. Our only caution would be the steep, narrow and winding stairs that are mentioned in the details.

Great location, nice courtyard garden. Styled well with quality bedding and towels. Quirky house but not for anyone with very young children or mobility issues.

The cleaners need another hour or so to do a proper job rather than a rudimentary clean. For example there is a bag of mouldy dog biscuits in kitchen cupboard. No ironing board. Feels like the property lacked real care. There is a large (refundable)damage deposit I wasn’t aware of with initial booking that had to be sent a few days before stay.

We had a great stay in Margate!
The Airbnb was in a great location, the place was clean, and we loved the sunny courtyard ??
Would recommend walking to Botany Bay for a swim as it’s quieter and very scenic! Also, worth a trip to Broadstairs!

A great place to stay, easy walking distance to town. Clean, tidy - lovely courtyard space. All in all a really good place to stay.

Aside from the fact that I found the information regarding the lockbox confusing, the place was very lovely and very clean. My family loved it and so did my furry friend!
However, one thing I will comment on are the stairs. They are VERY steep and quite hazardous, as I and a few other members of my family did almost slip a few times on our first day. Once we had gotten the hang of the stairs, the trip went very smoothly.
Absolutely stunning location, despite the rainy weather. There are many things to do, including plenty of halal food spots for any other friendly Muslims planning on visiting Margate. A small and cozy breakfast spot at the beginning end of the Dane Hill is worth the visit too (not halal, but Muslim owners so they were very accommodating).
Great communication with Blue Fox; they consistently checked up on us and made me feel confident with our stay.
Overall, I certainly recommend this location to all! :)

This is a nice place to stay for families and one of the best part is they can accomodate your fur babies. Very close to shops and to the beach.
The accomodation is very clean and cosy.

The location of the property was poor, in a run down area with drugs being dealt behind property, definitely not suitable for families.

The garden

Well Apart from breaking my foot going through a broken floor board hidden from carpet being pulled over it and then heading to a/e emergency! Nothing ruined the entire weekend!

Clean well presented house, with nice outside space. If you are tall you may find it a bit tight in the kitchen, my husband couldn’t stand straight but he is very tall!

This is a beautifully furnished place in a convenient location for both the town and the wonderful beaches. We didn’t encounter serious problems with parking.
It has very comfortable beds!

We actually didn’t stay in this Airbnb as it was so dirty and there was a strong smell of cigarettes throughout the common areas. The carpets were once cream but now are extremely dirty and haven’t been cleaned in a long time. In the dining area spills haven’t been cleaned and are still evident on the carpets. The kitchen area was not properly cleaned with all counters not fully wiped down and grease on the hob from previous tenant.
When we told the agency(Barbera is not the host) that we will not stay they promised a full refund. Unfortunately the next day when they inspected the Airbnb they didn’t agree that there was a smell of cigarettes and that the carpets were just general wear and tear and of course the counters and hob were clean. The agency started off as being apologetic but soon turned to revenue protection when they inspected the property more than 12 hours later.
The pictures have been edited to make it look much better than it is. The place is quiet small and split over a number of levels which won’t be ideal for everyone.
I was able to finally get refunded by Airbnb a few days later but it wasn’t an ideal start to our stay in Margate.

Really comfy and bright house. Very comfortable beds especially. We had a lovely couple of evenings. Especially liked the courtyard garden with a beautiful olive tree in it, and lots of lavender and a view of the stars. It's an unusual little house and it felt very cosy and warm.

Good location for Margate, lovely, trendy home. Stairs are very narrow and steep so make sure youre confident to find you way to the loo in the dark. Had a few issues whilst there but good communication from host for the most part.
Good for young couples

Lovely and clean. Great location just a bit smaller than expected from the Photos.

Disappointingly dirty, grubby and unclean. Thick grease in the kitchen with black dirt on freezer, stained carpets and rugs, kitchen utensils that need to be cleaned before use. It's listed as refurbished, but it doesn't look like that was recent.
The agency managing the property sent a cleaner after a few days of communications, when she arrived she stated "I'm only here to do what the other cleaner missed". She got the smeared gunky writing off the TV and cleaned what ever was smeared on the bathroom tiles but as for the rest of the issues, there was no distinctive change.
After communicating with the agents again and saying we were not happy they did not follow up with any communications or help for a day, so we decided to leave several days early. In a time of a pandemic the state of the property was disgustingly dirty.
The location was great, the towels fluffy, the bedding clean and the beds comfy.
This is the worst place for cleanliness we have ever stayed in

Little town house, 10 mins walk from the old town with lovely bedrooms and really comfortable beds. A nice little living room and bathroom on ground floor, a good little kitchen and a dining room in the basement plus a lovely courtyard out the back.
It’s up a hill and there are steep stairs up to bedrooms so all the climbing tired the little ones out!
Great for a couple of days in Margate.

Good place and good comms throughout. Just a few minutes walk down to the old Town and main sands. No dedicated parking but we were always able to find free spaces on the streets close by. Kitchen small but well equipped and everything worked well.

Lovely place and perfect location. Right by the coast and very walkable into town. We stayed as a family with two young kids and a mother and worked well, especially with the separate dining room. Only point is that we had to clean some kitchen utensils prior to use but this was a minor issue and otherwise a great place to stay in Margate.
