The flat was unclean, toilets didn't work a shower was broken, there were weeds on the balcony, the underlighters didn't work in the kitchen, there were broken vents - the couches were dirty as were the carpets - this was a property that was not presented as advertised. The outside lights had been removed leaving live wires - it was a disaster - I have photgraphs of all of this and more - it was booked for my wife's 60th and the state of the flat ruined the occasion - she had stayed there 8 years ago and that's why we booked it - nothing had been upgraded since her stay. We had an 80 year old staying who used the upstairs bedroom - however the toilet in her en-suite didn't work and she fell during the night going down the narrow steep stairs to the downstairs bathroom and gave herself a black eye. This was all reported on the first full day there, nothing could be done to repair anything as the engineer didn't arrive until the 5th day of our week and needed new parts for the toilets and shower. The downstairs twin beds were ancient and bowed in the middle.

Property a bit tired but comfortable, this place has a fantastic location/ base with views of harbour activity, access to town, beach and restaurants and surprisingly quiet late evening and early morning.

A really great location with lovely windows giving good views overlooking the working harbour and a short walking distance to the all the various eating places, the range of shops and also exploring Seahouses from the front door. The private parking space was a huge bonus when Seahouses was still busy with visitors. It is an ideal base for travelling around Northumberland by car or to take a boat trip to The Farne Islands and Holy Island.
We really chilled out during our week at The Plaice.
Host and Stay responded to all questions in a speedy and polite manner which was very much appreciated.

We enjoyed our stay. Great location for exploring the area. Right next to the boats to the Farne Islands and within walking distance to several pubs. Clean and equipped with everything we needed. Parking just outside the house was very convenient.

Great location and very well appointed and clean place.
Lots of kitchen equipment and plenty of crockery, cutlery, cups and glasses. Massive cooker/hob - though not much room for food prep if you plan to use it a lot.
TV reception is pretty flaky, so be aware if you plan to rely on that.
Mentioned check-in as not so easy because if you aren't used to key boxes, there is nothing intuitive about them.
The only thing that was disappointing is the description "the third bedroom is ideal for children and teenagers as it features twin beds and a flat-screen TV".
As we were taking grandchildren on holiday, this and their ensuite shower room was all part of the treat of staying here. When the TV wasn't there, I emailed the agency who replied very quickly to acknowledge and then again to say that nothing could be done during our stay and that they would update their listing. 2 weeks later both AirBnB and their own website have the same misleading photos and description on the listings.

This is a very good location, just next to the seaside and the pier and the restaurants

The kitchen and those utensils have not been cleaned properly.

We were extremely disappointed with our recent stay at The Plaice in Seahouses. We arrived to find a cold, dark, unwelcoming property that can best be described as filthy and uncared for. We have been regular visitors to The Plaice over many years, when the property was managed by Coastal Retreats, and we were disappointed when they removed this property from their ‘books’. We were delighted then to discover that the property had become available again for rental, albeit under a different company Our previous experience of The Plaice was always positive in every respect: we would arrive to a lit and welcoming property that was cosy and warm throughout and with a ‘starter pack’ of basics waiting for us in the kitchen, bread, milk and some local produce. As our booking tended to be during December the property also had a Christmas tree and decorations The property was always immaculate throughout, inside and out and very welcoming Our experience this time was, sadly, the exact opposite of all of the above. We arrived to the property in darkness. The property was freezing cold as the heating and all of the radiators had been switched off - with no instructions on how to operate the heating system, which we had to work out for ourselves. Of course, no welcome pack of any kind. We then became aware of the very poor condition that the property was in. Cleanliness-wise under par to say the least and totally unacceptable - a few pictures attached to give you some idea of just how bad it was/is. Missing or broken shelves in the fridge, cracked and missing drawer(s) in the freezer . Missing under-mirror shelf in the bathroom and missing toilet roll holder are just a few examples. Black mould on all of the shower-heads and shower tiles. Heated towel rail in the bathroom not working, under-floor heating in the bathroom not working- in fact, in trying to switch one of these on it tripped the fuse in the whole property Crockery, utensils and glasses a complete mish-mash clearly accumulated over time - how on earth they felt able to carry out a meaningful inventory is beyond me. Given that we had already paid an exorbitant ‘damage deposit’ this was actually a very worrying issue. Add this to the missing shelves and broken drawers etc this left us with a genuine concern that we were about to be scammed. Proof of this concern being that I have delayed giving this feedback until this deposit was safely back in our bank The fact that we were charged over £700 for this dreadful experience is shameful. Host & Stay have a potential gem on their books with this property. With a bit of TLC and at least a modicum of investment it could be returned to its former glory. As it currently stands it’s a bit of a shocker!

The stay was lovely for 6 of us over the festive period. The location was great, very accessible the local areas by car and small walk into the town and harbour.

The house itself was great for self catering, if you would prefer that option and I would stay here again.

We stayed for two nights just before Christmas. Underwhelmed if I'm honest, considering what we paid for 2 nights. Not a good start as we spent the first evening absolutely freezing because the heating instructions were not clear. Simply said "turn the dial on the thermostat" - which did not work. Eventually found a setting in the boiler cupboard so that we could get warm. Rang the company, difficult to get through as there's no mobile signal (not their fault). The bathrooms were a bit tatty - mouldy tiles, and the shower cubicle and shower hose weren't clean. You could tell it was run by an agency, rather than the owner as it lacked the personal touches we have been used to in other AirBnBs of this price range. Check in is 4pm and an early check time of 10am made us feel like we were a bit shortchanged and rushed out.
That said, I would highly recommend the area as it is absolutely stunning. The property overlooks the harbour which is lovely too.

Excellent location on the harbour with great views over to the Farne Islands. Great to have two parking spaces .
Lovely , light , well equipped clean property, which was a great place for our group of four adults , to visit the stunning NE coast and relax. We had a three night stay and fortunately had very mild sunny weather for this time of year.
Enjoyed a great trip to The Farne Islands with the Serenity boat company based on the harbour.
Also had two very good meals at The Ship Inn , very handily situated just round the corner.

This is a fantastic appartment, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. This appartment is in a lovely location, by the harbour, within the town centre. It is very well equipped and the hosts have thought of everything. Fantastic and great value for money.

Ensuite in twin room a little small, but manageable.

Great view over the harbour. Easy walking access to shops and restaurants. Dishwasher! Comfortable space for us all.

We were 5 adults and a toddler. We should have brought a stair gate with us as he was up and down the stairs much of the time; the living area is upstairs. The other slight drawback was consistency of hot water if more than one person was showering at a time.

This was the third visit by one of my sons and myself - we were joined this time by another son who loved it as we do. I am now aged 90, and am Northumbrian born and bred, though living in Somerset for the last 4 decades. However as a child all my holidays were spent locally on family farms, and, as adults, have visited as often as possible. The Plaice is now a perfect base and we love it.

There are just a few end-of-season items that need attention - ceiling bulb, flickering lamp (socket problem?), the red shower wall switch in upstairs bedroom is OK to switch on but very stiff to switch off again (I needed help!). We thought a doormat inside the balcony windows would save the ingress of mud after rain.

Location was central and a short walk to shops and restaurants.

3 beds and 3 bathrooms was good for 3 travellers.

Walking back at night was not great for 3 female guests - v dark and deserted by the harbour.

There were also issues with the locking mechanism of the main balcony doors - we tightened screws to stop the handle hanging loose, for example. 2 out of 3 of us didn't feel especially safe and would not stay here again.

Accommodation was tired and tatty in places. The windows had a good view but had not been cleaned for some time.

Not good value for money. For over £800 for 2 nights, this was a disappointing standard of accommodation.

We stayed at the Plaice for 3 days. Seahouses is one of our favourite places to go and this was the first time we had used an Airbnb here. Check in process was very smooth and the location is excellent but sadly we found the quality of the accommodation poor:
1. Upstairs ensuite cistern is leaking
2. Upstairs ensuite light not working
3. Upstairs ensuite shower had a note on the door to say 'do not use'. We were not informed of this before arriving.
4. Half of the toaster is broken
5. Patio door handle loose
6. Spare door keys don't work
7. Twin room bedside lamp doesn't work
8. Twin room TV doesn't work
9. Twin room sink doesn't drain.

I reported these to the Host on our return and requested a small partial refund but this was rejected because I didn't mention them during our stay. My reason for this was that we were only there for a couple of days and I didn't want our family time to be ruined by maintenance people coming in and out.

Fantastic property in quiet location but right on the harbourside with views over the harbour and out towards the Farne Islands. We used the property for two elderly (both in their 80s) relatives who have been shielding for the last couple of years. To say they loved it is an understatement. Short walks on the harbour and hours spent watching the activity on the harbour and admiring the views was just what they needed. We would highly recommend this property

perfect location right on the harbour. parking space right outside. lovely village with all the shops and restaurants for everything you need for a restful holiday. the accommodation has everything you need in it and spotlessly clean.

the only thing to improve would be blinds in the upstairs bedroom or some blackout lining so not woken up too early by the sunshine!

We have just enjoyed 2 nights at The Plaice, it was perfectly located in Seahouses harbour- fab view from every window. The check in and out process was so easy and communication from the hosting company was spot on. Parking is right in front of the house which was handy.
The house was really clean and provided little touches of coffee, sugar, ice in the freezer etc. Which was really thoughtful. The beds were really comfortable too. Would definitely recommend this property.

This house is in a stunning location overlooking the sea and the harbour. Really close to the boat trips to the Farne Isles. Plenty of room for 6 people on 2 floors. Balcony from master bedroom and lovely view from a big window in the living area. Well equipped kitchen. Modern fixtures and fittings and gorgeous linen!
