Our Top Picks for Eating & Drinking in Scarborough

Monday 16th May, 2022 by hs-admin

Scarborough is a seaside town on the coast of North Yorkshire. It’s a place that families visit and return year after year, full of seaside fun, beaches, picturesque parks and eateries you don’t want to miss.

And what’s a trip to the beach without fish and chips and an ice cream?

Here are some of our favourite spots:

Lifeboat Fish Bar

Voted #1 out of 240 Scarborough restaurants, the family run Lifeboat Fish Bar is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat!

Its impeccable location, just off Scarborough harbour makes any trip complete. Whether you fancy traditional British fish and chips, a steak pie or

something smaller, the Lifeboat Fish Bar has you covered with both their takeaway and sit-in menu, as well as a kid’s menu for smaller appetites.

On a sunny day, we’d recommend ordering a take-away and sitting on South Bay beach!

The Hideout Cafe Kitchen & Bar

A four-minute walk from Peasholm Park will bring you to the self-proclaimed ‘landmark meeting spot’, The Hideout.

It has an extensive menu which is cooked to order, and changes throughout the day covering breakfast, lunch and evening meals. What’s brilliant about The Hideout is that it caters for absolutely everyone. Vegans, vegetarians, and those with gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance, they have you covered!

Another bonus – the venue is dog friendly, so you can take your fur-babies for lunch too.

The team are keen to cement the venue’s reputation as a meeting place and offer free Wifi and charging points, as well as providing high chairs and kids toys for those with children.

Cowshed Burgers

Offering a no-fuss approach to casual dining, right in the heart of Scarborough is Cowshed Burgers.

If gourmet burgers and craft beers are your thing, this is the place for you. There are six different mouth-watering burgers on the menu, from a simple cheese burger, to a peanut butter and jelly burger, and a Korean inspired burger. If you fancy something other than a burger, they offer gourmet hotdogs and chicken too!

Harbour Bar

What’s a trip to the seaside without an ice cream? A stone’s throw from Scarborough Pier, your ice cream dreams can become a reality!

The owner of Harbour Bar, Giulian Alonzi, knows the ins and outs of ice cream, spending every single day making gallons of it. It’s a real family business, with the Alonzi family opening their doors to the people of Scarborough on August Bank Holiday 1945!

Harbour Bar doesn’t just stop at your standard plain vanilla cone, they offer a wide variety of different flavours, in cones, ice cream sundaes, shakes and soda floats. They even offer sandwiches, snacks and freshly toasted waffles!

Embers

Describing themselves as ‘fusing creativity and craftsmanship’, Embers chefs use only the finest handpicked ingredients to create dishes infused with flavour that really tantalise your taste buds.

Choose from a variety of dishes from chef Dan Hargreaves’ Yorkshire roots, with an international twist. The venue offers gourmet burgers, smoky chargrills from their wood-fired oven, cheese boards with a selection of tasty Yorkshire cheeses and exquisite desserts.
