The position for Holy Island (a 10 min drive straight up the A1) and Berwick-Upon-Tweed for day trips by train to Edinburgh is unbeatable. If you visit Berwick, make sure to take one of the 'clock-display' cards from the very good pile of info on the windowsill. We did not come across them until we had akready visited. Mind you, parking at the older B&M, at the back, long stay car park then walking to the station, is free all day. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. Maybe a shelf in the bathroom would improve it but nit picking, really. We loved it. The café next door is a great resource although we left before 10am when they open, most days. They are closed Tues and Wed but open rest of the week. I do wish Host and Stay would send entry details earlier. I realise they must worry about fraud but considering they take payment (albeit refundable), immediately you book, only being released codes, address etc 6 hrs before arrival makes for a tense and a tad nerve-wracking journey. It all worked out fine but I would always prefer the entry details before embarking on a holiday.

'The Nook' (Fenwick Village Hall ground floor flat) had everything we needed for our three night stay. The flat was very clean, and well equipped. The instructions for the flat were clear and detailed, and we were provided with an online guidebook on check-in. The location was a great base to explore Lindisfarne and the East Coast attractions. There is the added bonus of a small independent cafe next door, which sells some great coffee, cakes and pastries. No complaints at all regarding the accommodation itself. There is a neighbouring cockerel, who enjoys letting everyone know it's sunrise, every morning. Great if you're looking for an early start to the day. Maybe not so great if you're looking for a bit of a lie in!
