Neighborhood
Bempton is home to one of the UK's top wildlife spectacles, and the most accessible seabird colony in the UK. Each year, over 500,000 seabirds gather between March and October to raise a family, including guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and adorable puffins at Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve. There are spectacular views along the dramatic cliffs and coastal paths and on top of that, the local countryside and scenery is breathtaking.
Flamborough is the neighbouring village and has several bays, coves and beaches. The accessible working lighthouse has amazing panoramic views in every direction. A short walk from the lighthouse you will find a colony of seals overlooked by the impressive drinking dinosaur rocks. Paddle boarding and kayaking is popular in and around the caves and coves at Flamborough. There are boat trips from North Landing beach around the Flamborough headland between May and September.
The seaside town of Bridlington is located around four miles away from Bempton. With its sandy beaches, award-winning promenades and historic working harbour, this is a hidden seaside gem awash with kitsch traditional entertainment. Cruises from Bridlington harbour are available on the last surviving pleasure cruiser on the East Yorkshire coast offering trips along the coastline for unique views from the sea of the cliffs and bird colonies.
Bridlington is proving to be a popular destination for whales, dolphins and porpoise with plenty spotted in the summer months. Visit the funfair, amusements and donkey rides on the beach for a traditional British day out with seaside in spades! Also, whilst you’re in this neck of the woods, why not go and explore Bridlington’s wonderful Old Town?
