Very nice apartment in a quiet neighbourhood. Very spacious and fair price. Located in central Broadstairs close to the ocean.

We are 2 friends who stayed at Admirals Rest for 7 nights, from 6th.September.
We found the apartment very clean, comfortable and spacious, and ideally located for the town centre amenities and the sea - a beautiful beach only 5 minutes walk away.
Messages from our hosts were at all times polite and helpful, and instructions about the property were clear.
Unfortunately, the combination of sudden cold weather and an unforseen boiler fault marred our stay for a couple of days until resolved, as we were without hot water and heating during this time.
Apart from this mishap we would really reccommend Admirals Rest as a very pleasant, comfortable, clean and convenient place to stay in Broadstairs.

Large, clean property, of slightly old fashioned

The wifi didn't reach the room next to the kitchen and the 4g signal wasn't reaching either, but that's not the property's fault.

Spacious apartment, clean and comfortable, if a bit dated. (Excellent beds!)
Close to high street and shops, and a few minutes walk from the beach, but situated in a nice, quiet turning.
Parking a bonus!

Great location in a lovely setting close to an excellent beach and lovely pubs and restaurants. Good access to local amenities yet very peaceful. The home was clean on arrival however certain basic kitchen cleaning supplies were not provided (e.g. kitchen roll) so was difficult to maintain the cleanliness.
A few more kitchen supplies e.g. sugar for hot drinks and olive oil would have been appreciated.
Shower in en suite temperature control didn’t work properly so needs to be better maintained.
With some of these minor amendments I would definitely come back. Well worth the price we paid for a last minute booking :)

Absolutely wonderful place to stay for a few days.
Spacious and comfortable and cosy. Everything that you needed was available.
Shops close by and the beach just minutes away.

They wasn't anything I dislike about the property.

Its a quirky lovely place. Ive stayed there a couple of times. Bit like a comfy slipper. I feel homely and cosy. All you could ask for

Arrival issue. We asked if we could cgeck in at 2.0 which was agreed. Nothing had bedn done dirty tiwrls beds and smelly with rubbish due to heat. I asked for cleaners to be sent.. but we had to send photographic evidence. We waited till 4.30 for someone to arrive
Other than that if was perfect

The location was central and there is parking.

I don't like to leave poor reviews, but we were very disappointed in this property. IMO there is nothing fabulous about it. Very poor layout if you need to use both bedrooms - to reach the bathroom from the small bedroom you need to walk through the conservatory, lounge and into the corridor. Tired decor and furniture - no coffee maker, toaster broken, not even 3 matching glasses. Both showers ran too hot to use and the controls did not work. When I was looking for a hairdryer, I found a condom wrapper from a previous guest. There is a compulsory deposit, which they admit they have a policy of not returning in full and you have to chase to get anything back.

Very small issue with the TV Remote control. I have brought this to the attention of the Proprietors/Management Agents, and I'm sure this will be rectified going forward into the summer for the benefit of future guests.

A lovely and spacious apartment. Also lots of storage space that we could use, including plenty of cupboards and drawers. The location was perfect. Just a minute’s walk from the main restaurants etc, very short walk to the beautiful beach. And yet very peaceful despite being so near to the main attractions. We will definitely visit again.

Good location. Off-street parking

Car parking was difficult/stressful especially as there were 2 cars already on the drive.
The macerator for the bathroom waste makes a very loud and disturbing noise in the night,
The TV remote off button doesnt work- not a big problem as I could set a sleep timer to schedule it off in 10 mins time, but just so the owners know.

Admirals rest is a fantastic place to stay. Less than 5 minutes walk from Viking Bay, all Broadstairs amenities and a loop bus stop to go round Thanet.
We brought my disabled father and although there is a couple of steps he managed fine and the en-suite bathroom was a real bonus.
Highly recommended as is Thai for Two which is a amazing little restaurant just round the corner

The house is beautiful and there is plenty of room. We took my uncle way, and he likes his own space, so he had the larger room with the on-site. Nice kitchen come dinner and great out door space. Place to park your car . Fresh bedding and towels provided.

Everything was great

The location was excellent for everything Broadstairs has to offer. The apartment was comfortable, clean and welcoming. The Blue Fox team were friendly, helpful and very responsive. For the four of us, spanning 3 generations, Admiral’s Rest was perfect.

Perfectly located near to seafront and shops and near to the train station. Kitchen is really well equipped and both the showers were the correct temperature this year. Beds are comfortable . Neat and clean when you walk in.

Last year I had said that not enough is made of the courtyard garden and functional garden furniture, particularly a new table parasol would allow for being able to relax in the courtyard in the evening. It rained a lot when we were there so we didn't actually sit out there in the evenings. It would have been difficult had we done so as there were parts of the table slats missing and there was no parasol at all this year.

Joyce

25/07/2023

The location was excellent, the property was very well equipped, beautifully decorated, very clean and bright. Very spacious too.

Nothing much springs to mind, I could have done with some guidance regulating the shower, but perhaps that's just me. The back garden furniture was a bit old and had a few cobwebs. But nothing major of concern.

The location and having a parking space

Showers were way too hot and you couldn’t control the temperature

Paul

09/07/2023

Location, Location, Location. Very spacious apartment.

This is the 2nd time we’ve been to Admiral’s Rest & 3rd time to Broadstairs. The Showers were literally scalding and unusable, no temperature control worked on either.
Kitchen on the small side - 1 Person at a time job. Big foot in the apartment above. Main bedroom toilet noisy. The neighbours have been redeveloping next door for well over a year and we’re out in the courtyard doing building work most mornings - although to be fair they didn’t start particularly early in morning. Access to parking is extremely tight- it’s a reverse in job once you get past the neighbours cars it opens out though.
Sofa bed in lounge isn’t that comfortable although things have improved since last visit with a smaller 2 seater sofa which is better.
Key codes aren’t released until £250 ransom deposit is received.

Great property in a great location but on arrival we found a window had been broken. We ended up patching it up ourselves because it was letting in a really cold breeze. Other than that, everything was perfect. Lots of shops and bars close to the location and really short walk to Viking Bay. Great break away!

Sent several emails regarding the broken window but no response received.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, both because of the property itself, and because of the wonderful location. It was peaceful, yet close to everything - the seashore, shops, groceries, and transportation. Our stay was mostly in November and we suspect that a late spring or summer stay might be a completely different wonderful experience. We hope to return in the spring or summer to give it a try. As a side note, we found the people of the local community were very pleasant and helpful, and there was never any moment that we felt unsafe. Just an all around great stay. Thanks for having us!

05/10/2022

Very nice property with everything to make it home from home. Great to have two bathrooms, one each for my brother and me! Nice big lounge, loads of space everywhere, all nicely furnished. Fantastic location with shops and seafront just steps away.

There is a leak on the skylight in the smaller bedroom needs attention. Otherwise nothing not to like.

Richard

25/09/2022

We have stayed here before. The central Location, off street parking, and proximity to the promenade very good.

One small thing was the TV remote control not being fully functional. This was reported to the Property Rental company, and after about 20 minute, retuned it to the TV, but could only access BBC 1. Also, we reported the outside porch light not working, but nothing was done to rectify this during our stay.

Admiral's Rest was great: very spacious and an amazing location. Architecturally very special, too. The kitchen was clean and well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. Parking was a bonus as was the little garden. NB the bedrooms are very far apart, something which will be a plus for many, but worth knowing if you're travelling with young children. That said the main bedroom is massive, with a sofa bed, and there's another sofa bed in the sitting room next door to it.

The property has a lot of kerb appeal , it is spacious, and the kitchen is really well equipped . The washing machine was a real bonus as I had 3 children with me. Bed linen and towels were provided , these were good quality and very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Lots of seating for dining and in the lounge for watching TV in the evenings. The location was perfect for getting to and fro the sea front and local shops. I want to book again for next year.

We all had to rely on one shower as the shower in the main bedroom en-suite couldn't be used as it was impossible to control the temperature , it was scalding hot . (I note a review in February 2022 which says the same thing)The courtyard garden was a lovely outside area and although someone had gone to the bother of planting geraniums these had not been tended to. The courtyard had also obviously not been swept for some time. The wooden garden furniture has not been treated and is likely left out over winter which means it has rotted away. The garden parasol is rotten . It would have been a nice area to sit out in the hot afternoons/evenings. I revived the geraniums and purchased a broom to give it a thorough sweep. Hopefully the owners will want to improve on this as it is a good outside space.

Admirals House suited us well. We are 2 couples in our early 70s. The parking easy access close the front was a bonus to visit The Turner Gallery in Margate, in one direction and The Ambrette Restaurant, Beer Cart Lane, Canterbury and a punt trip near the Cathedral/The Marlowe Theatre and the historic building and parking nearby in the other.
Ramsgate and Deal/Walmer are not far away. As long you have a decent sat-nav and a sense of direction, but please be prepared for lots of round-a-bouts some of which are more recent than your sat-nav!
The property is quirky. Our room was beside the kitchen and with a step down to the dining room, but the double bed was comfortable and very quiet. The kitchen is small but well appointed and served us well.
The airy dining room with its 6 place chairs looks over the outdoor table and ideal for al-fresco entertaining.
Walk through to the sitting room. At the moment it has a mix of comfortable chairs which may be considered "old-fashioned", but so -what. We enjoyed several glasses of wine there.
It leads to the corridor which has to the left our Shower/wc. Clean and well appointed
To the right along the corridor were the faculties occupied by my wife's sister and husband.
They thoroughly enjoyed their stay in this well appointed spacious flat.
Would we come again. The answer is emphatically "Yes"

Paul

04/05/2022

Neighbour very helpful regarding recycling.perfect location for the beach and town plus bonus of car parking spot - car hardly moved all week. Very spacious apartment, some of the furnishings sofa/chairs could do with upgrade to aid comfort.
Beds very comfortable. 2nd bedroom near to kitchen a fair trek through the dining area and lounge to reach. Very quiet location at night despite proximity to town - very close to Baptist church who enjoyed a good singsong on Sunday. Some noise during week from building work close by.

Big foot stomping in the apartment above slight annoyance on occasions.
Apartment key could be temperamental at times.
Sofa & chairs not most comfortable.

I was there for a small reunion and it was perfect for that being located close to the sea front and town centre, It was alsp very quiet at night, couldn't hear anything from the street. Lots of eating options nearby if you don't want to cook.

Limited parking at the property, although there is space for one car, so it shouldn't cause a major problem. There is plenty of parking, both free and paid (£12.50 for 24 hours) nearby.

Richard

20/03/2022

The Whole Experience. Very handy for all amenities. Would Happily stay here again, and recommend it. Proximity to the beach and seafront also very easy to get to - for people of all ages . Stayed here in March, but still enough to fill your day with.

Nothing in my opinion to dislike. Some places not open, but it is still very much " out of peak season " when we visited. Only problem maybe yomping up the hilly High Street. Friday evening is the time young people come out to play, but no real nuisance in my experience.

Nicola

22/02/2022

The location was great and it was also handy to have parking.

The property has a damp problem and paint was peeling off of the walls in several places. The sheets were stained on one of the beds. Two light bulbs were out including the main one for one of the bedrooms. It was impossible to change the temperature in one of the showers. A broken table was shoved down the back of the tv. The dvd player didnt work. I reported all of this to the management company but received no reply.

Duncan

21/02/2022

The place was lovely and clean and accurately shown in the photos. It was clean and tidy and felt private. Good location for walking and parking was fine (although better to reverse in)

There were quite a few lightbulbs missing, one of which couldn't be fixed which made the dining room very dim. The two main coffee tables were both broken, the other was rickety. The bed was a very small double in a huge room with a huge headboard-such a shame. A few of the rads were closed so tightly, they had to come out to switch them on, which the team did promptly BUT all of this stuff could have been sorted pre-arrival and the very small bed should really be changed to a king sized

Admiral's Rest is an oasis in the centre of Town. Fantastic location just minutes from the beach and restaurants but very peaceful and quiet with views over the garden. We decided to use the sofa bed in the main bedroom for our kids as they are a bit young to leave alone in the second bedroom at the other end of the property, however this worked out really well as the main bedroom was huge. Loads and loads of space with everything we needed and it was great having private off street parking right out the front. Very enjoyable stay and we would definitely book there again.
